An Ethiopian goatherd discovered coffee, it was a simple food and beverage for African tribesman but now, it is sold in large quantities worldwide as one of the top value in trade. All coffee exporting countries depend on coffee as the main income. Many people depend on them for a living and drink them a lot.
In 1975, a frost killed almost half of Brazil's coffee trees which changed the prices drastically. And the frost came again in 1979, it resulted in no income for every tree lost from three to five years. the income loss was huge as 15 million trees were lost.
Brazil stopped the export of coffee and importers bought it in bunk as they were afraid of the shortage. The prices increased and the farmers planted more of them. Many farmers began to grow other more stable crops and both producers and consumers limited production to what the market can absorb, have a reserve and sell it at a reasonable price.
